When Losing My Instagram Helped Me Find My Direction

Dear Friends,
Sometimes life has a funny way of forcing us to stop.
A few weeks ago, my Instagram account was hacked. The first time it happened, I was frustrated. The second time, something shifted, especially when the hacker emailed me asking for a ransom. My reply was NO!.
Instead of immediately thinking, How do I get it back?, I found myself asking, Do I even want to go back?
That question has stayed with me.
Like many business owners, I've spent years trying to keep up with social media, thinking about what to post, when to post, how to keep people engaged and how to stay visible. It's easy to get caught up in the constant scroll, where we're always searching for the next piece of information, the next video, the next distraction. We worry that if we stop scrolling, we might miss something important.
But are we really missing out?
Or are we missing what's right in front of us?
The truth is, social media has never been a natural fit for me. I'm much more interested in conversations than content. I love asking questions, listening to people's stories and helping them understand what is happening.
I like depth, not speed.
I like knowledge that can be revisited, not information that disappears.
So I've decided to stop chasing the algorithm and start investing my energy somewhere that feels more authentic.
This newsletter will become the place where I share what I'm learning, what I'm seeing in the clinic and the things I believe can genuinely make a difference to your health. I'll also be developing a YouTube channel over the next few months so the information is easy to find whenever you need it. And, for the first time, I'm going to start using LinkedIn as another way to connect professionally.
It feels like the right direction.
Interestingly, this shift mirrors what's been happening in my business over the past year.
Many of you first knew me through surfing and performance breathing. Those experiences taught me so much, and they'll always be part of who I am. But over time my work has naturally evolved.
Today my passion lies in helping adults and children improve their breathing, sleep and airway health.
Every week I meet people who are exhausted, anxious, waking through the night or simply not feeling like themselves. Many are living with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), histamine intolerance or chronic nervous system dysregulation.
This work is deeply personal to me.
I've experienced these challenges myself, and I've watched my own children navigate them too. I know how overwhelming it can feel when your body seems to be working against you, and how often people are told that their symptoms are "just stress" without being given practical tools to help.
That's why I do what I do.
Using functional breathing retraining, orofacial myofunctional therapy and sleep coaching, I help people rebuild the foundations of health. I work with the breath, the airway, the tongue, sleep habits and the nervous system, not because there's a quick fix, but because lasting change comes from consistently teaching the body a healthier way to function.
It's not always the fastest path.
But it is one that creates real change.
As I move away from relying on social media, my hope is that this space becomes something more meaningful. A place where we can learn together, ask questions, share ideas and build a community around better breathing, better sleep and better health.
If you've been following along for years, thank you for staying with me.
If you're new here, welcome.
I'm looking forward to this next chapter, and I'm so glad you're here to be part of it.
With gratitude
