Villa Santai is ideally located on Nemberala beach, is absolute beachfront and directly in front of Besialu reef commonly known as T-Land, one of the longest and most consistent left handers in the Indonesian archipelago.
Utilising the off shore breezes, large shady verandahs and coconut frond roof thatching to maintain a comfortable, airy internal room temperature. Each of the separate bungalows has their own unique design and decor and are modelled around traditional Rotenese architecture, with western comforts and amenities.
The entire property is enhanced by tropical gardens and surrounded by natural stone boundary fencing, insuring privacy and security.
T-Land, locally known as Nemberala Left, giving you immediate access to one of the world’s most famous left-hand reef breaks with long walls and powerful sections that can run for hundreds of metres. Squealers is another close by wave which is fun, more playful wave with smoother lines and forgiving sections, making it ideal for relaxed sessions and confidence building, and is located approximately 500 metres down the reef from T-Land.
In addition, there are several other premium waves in the area that can be accessed depending on swell size, tide, and wind conditions, offering plenty of variety throughout the week.

You Retreat Experience
Breath & Surf Retreat on Rote Island, running from 31st October to 6th November. I’m excited to share more details about what’s included in this special week.
This retreat is designed for 10 intermediate surfers who are confident catching their own waves and are comfortable surfing both forehand and backhand. The focus of the week is to support your surf progression, develop comfortable breath holds, breathing recovery, and nervous system regulation, all while experiencing one of the most consistent and uncrowded surf destinations in the world.
We will be staying at Villa Santai, located directly in front of the iconic T-Land surf break, offering a truly immersive surf, breath, and recovery experience.
What’s included in the retreat:
• Accommodation at Villa Santai (room share)
• 2 guided surf sessions per day, led by 2 experienced surf coaches. Amanda Curtis will be the second coach.
• Daily surf footage analysis
• 1 breathing session per day, either pool-based or on dry land
• 3 meals per day, a mix of Western and Indonesian cuisine
• Unlimited boat transfers to T-Land and the Squealers
• Air-conditioned rooms with ceiling fans
